About the job
SOVRA is adding a Senior Product Manager, Platform and AI, a newly created position that supports a new generation of AI-native procurement products on one shared platform. The role suits someone who wants to help shape what public procurement looks like next and who is drawn to making that work better for the agencies that run it.
The person in this role owns a buyer-side product area on the new platform, which spans request intake, sourcing and solicitation building, evaluation, and contract lifecycle management. The role brings AI into the buyer's daily workflow, from drafting solicitations to evaluating responses, and helps agencies move from SOVRA's established platforms to the new one.
Every road repaired, classroom equipped, and clinic stocked starts with a procurement. The role works closely with Engineering, Design, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing, and its output is held to the standard that public sector audiences expect for accuracy, accessibility, and accountability.
What will your main responsibilities look like?
Product Strategy & Customer Discovery
- You spend time with agency buyers, evaluators, and contract managers, map how procurement work gets done, and frame problems worth solving before anyone writes a line of code.
- You decide on evidence, combining usage data, customer interviews, solicitation analysis, win/loss feedback, and continuous market intelligence to prioritize the roadmap and shape positioning.
- You write clear, testable requirements and acceptance criteria at the pace of a short release cycle, and work with the Product Owner to define and prioritize the backlog.
AI Product Ownership
- You own a buyer-side product area on the new platform, setting vision, roadmap, and priorities while balancing strategic goals, customer commitments, and engineering capacity.
- You decide where AI acts, where it assists, and where a person stays in control across buyer workflows, and you define how each AI feature is evaluated and monitored in production.
Delivery & Public Sector Readiness
- You build clickable or coded prototypes with AI-assisted tools, test them with real users alongside Design before engineering commits, and use AI across your daily work.
- You treat accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA and ADA), data residency and privacy, security review, public procurement law and policy, and ERP and finance integration as product features.
Launch & Commercial Performance
- You partner with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success on launch plans, packaging, pricing, demos, and RFP responses, taking each release through SOVRA's operational-readiness gates so it can be sold, demoed, and supported.
- You own adoption, retention, and commercial performance for your area, setting success metrics at launch and tracking them in product analytics, and you coach junior product managers, product owners, and business analysts.
What will you bring to this role?
- Product management track record - you have 5+ years in product management at a B2B, enterprise, or SaaS company, and have taken customer problems from discovery to a shipped product.
- AI product delivery - you have shipped AI features such as agents, copilots, or intelligent document processing, and defined how to evaluate and monitor them in production.
- Government procurement knowledge - you have working knowledge of how government buys, including solicitations and RFx, evaluation, award, contracts, and cooperative purchasing, gained inside a public agency or at a govtech, procurement, or ERP vendor.
- Daily applied AI practice - you use AI hands-on every day to prototype with tools such as Claude, Replit, or Cursor, synthesize research, and draft specs, with sound judgment on accuracy, data privacy, and public-sector risk.
- UX fluency - you run discovery and usability tests yourself, work side by side with Design, and are aware of accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Data fluency - you define metrics, read usage analytics in tools such as PostHog or Userpilot, and make decisions on facts rather than opinions.
- Educational background - you hold a bachelor's degree or higher, or have equivalent experience.
- Authorization to work in the US - we are not able to sponsor work visas or transfers at this time.
What are the assets that would make you stand out?
- E-procurement domain experience - you have direct experience in e-procurement, sourcing, or contract lifecycle management.
- Government sales support - you have supported government sales through RFP responses, security questionnaires, demos, and pilots.
You should apply if
- You are drawn to the public sector mission and want your work to help agencies spend less time on paperwork and more on outcomes for their communities.
- You want to help define how AI changes the way products are discovered, specified, and built, in a setting where accuracy and accountability matter.
- You are motivated by the chance to build on a new AI-native platform as it is launched at scale and to see your product area through to adoption.
What we look for in applications
We review every application individually and assess it on its own merits rather than screening for keywords. The most impactful applications:
- Describe the products or features you shipped, who used them, and the outcome, with numbers wherever you have them.
- When you name a tool, such as an AI prototyping assistant or an analytics platform, a brief note on what you used it to do tells us far more than the name alone.
- Specific detail about your own work tells us more than a general summary of responsibilities.
What does success look like?
- By 3 months: you own the roadmap for your AI product area with success metrics in place, have an AI feature in pilot with an evaluation plan, and are the product lead for an AI product launch.
- By 6 months: AI features in your area are in use by agencies, with evaluation and monitoring running in production and early adoption data shaping the roadmap.
- By 12 months: you are accountable for adoption, retention, and commercial performance of your product area, and you are a trusted partner to agencies and to teams across SOVRA.

Our process is designed to be thorough while respecting your time. Three conversations cover the substance of the role and how you would work with the team.
