Snapology provides hands-on enrichment programs for children ages 3–14. Using LEGO® bricks, iPads, robotics, and other materials, we teach STEAM concepts while encouraging creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Position Overview We’re seeking a professional, dependable, and organized instructor to teach and coordinate programs at partner schools, recreation centers, libraries, and community facilities in and around Portsmouth, Dover, Rochester, Eliot, and South Berwick.

You’ll take ownership of each assigned program - from reviewing lessons and preparing supplies to arriving ready to teach and returning organized, complete equipment. This position requires independent work, proactive communication, and professional interactions with students, families, and partner staff.

Schedule

  • Part-time, approximately 10–20 hours weekly, depending on the season and programming.

• Must be available Monday–Friday, 2:00–6:00 p.m. Scheduled days and hours vary; you will not necessarily work every weekday.

  • Additional hours may include evenings, weekends, school vacations, and summer camps.
  • Must commit to the full duration of assigned programs and contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of assigned classes, camps, workshops, and events.
  • Review curriculum and practice activities and technology before teaching.
  • Coordinate equipment and supply pickup and return with the owner.
  • Inventory kits before and after programs; promptly report missing, damaged, or depleted items.
  • Arrive early enough to unload, set up, and be fully prepared before students arrive.
  • Lead engaging, age-appropriate lessons that encourage creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming classroom and manage student behavior.
  • Follow partner procedures for attendance, dismissal, room use, and safety.
  • Communicate professionally with families and partner staff.
  • Keep the owner informed about student concerns, partner feedback, scheduling issues, and supply needs.
  • Keep building sets, robotics kits, iPads, and curriculum clean, organized, complete, and ready for use.
  • Pack materials carefully and leave partner spaces clean and orderly.
  • Support instructor preparation and training; assist with coordinating staff, equipment, and materials.
  • Promote upcoming programs and support community outreach.
  • Participate in required training, meetings, and other assigned tasks.

Reliability & Professionalism

Our partners and families depend on programs running as scheduled. Accepting an assignment means committing to preparation, punctual attendance, and follow-through for the entire program.

Dependable attendance is essential. Plan ahead for known conflicts and notify the owner immediately if illness or an emergency affects your ability to teach so coverage can be coordinated. Instructors may not cancel classes or arrange substitutes without approval.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching, leading, or supervising children.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Sound judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through without frequent supervision.
  • Professional, punctual, and dependable work habits.
  • Reliable transportation for travel to partner sites and transporting supplies.
  • Ability to load, unload, move, and set up program materials.
  • Comfort with iPads, basic technology, and hands-on building materials.

*Curriculum and equipment training provided with ongoing support.

Programs

After-school classes, school and library workshops, summer camps, school vacation programs, weekend workshops, birthday parties, and community events.

Benefits & Bonuses

  • Bonuses for completing qualifying program contracts; amounts, eligibility, and requirements provided before each assignment.
  • A few paid work-from-home hours per month for assigned preparation and coordination.

Flexible work from home options available.
