Original job description

Skylight is a technology startup building the OS of the family. We make Skylight Calendar, the smart calendar loved by millions of families (plus Wired and the Wirecutter). Our latest product is Calendar 2, which just launched to rave reviews. Our mission is to connect loved ones by creating the world’s simplest products and services that improve family life. Our founders are former venture capitalists and serial entrepreneurs who have scaled this business to $300M+ in annual revenue while being completely bootstrapped and profitable. We get to grow a happy, healthy company focused on making products our customers love without investors breathing down our necks. Smart, hardworking people who care about making actually meaningful products love working here. People like you. We’re busy inventing new ways to simplify family life and help parents raise great kids – and we need your help! Come invent something new with us.

About the Role:

We’re seeking a Senior QA Engineer to lead quality efforts across in-app purchasing and subscription lifecycles, while also contributing to the quality of our broader mobile app experience. You will be performing exploratory testing, automated testing, and bug reporting within a cross-functional team. This is a highly collaborative role and requires excellent verbal and written communication. This might be the perfect role for you if you are excited by:

Working within a team that values feedback and gives it openly and regularly.
Being embedded in an engineering team where quality is a shared responsibility.
Having a valued and sought after opinion when it comes to project scope and design.
Developing a deep empathy for our users and advocating for their experience.
Contributing to a product that our customers genuinely love because it solves real, everyday problems for busy families and neurodiverse kids and adults (the ADHD and Autism communities are among our biggest fans).

Responsibilities:

Collaborating with product and engineering during project scoping and refinement to identify risk and establish test plans.
Validating in-app purchase flows, subscription lifecycles and integrations with third-party payment systems on Android + iOS devices.
Performing exploratory testing of mobile app features and user experiences beyond subscriptions and payments.
In partnership with engineering, define, design, implement, and maintain automated tests across and between our tech stacks (mobile, hardware, and web).
Testing Android-based software running on custom hardware and firmware.
Collaborating with QA team members across domains to improve testing efficiency and foster a sustainable workload amongst the team.
Extensive experience (5+ years) in independently assessing quality risks, making informed testing decisions, and influencing product outcomes
Experience testing in-app purchases, subscription lifecycle management, and third-party payment integrations on Android + iOS devices
Strong understanding of the SDLC, Agile testing, and software testing methodologies
Clear and effective verbal and written communication
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to apply systems-level thinking to business requirements through the lens of the customer experience
History of contributing to automated tests on Android + iOS platforms

Our competitive compensation package includes:

Competitive Salary + Equity Package
401K matching
Wellness, learning, and home-office budgets
Health, Dental & Vision Medical Plans
Tremendous autonomy to set the direction of your work
Unlimited PTO
Company holidays on the first Friday of every month (Except November & December)

All qualified applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other factor protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
