Original job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

Join Siemens Energy as an Associate Project Engineer and support engineering coordination from design through construction, commissioning, and handover. You’ll work with a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer to help multidisciplinary teams, clients, and suppliers exchange the right information at the right time. You’ll coordinate small scopes or defined work packages with guidance, keeping technical interfaces, equipment procurement, project documentation, and field execution moving. Start building your project engineering career while supporting station projects that depend on clear communication, organized follow-up, and reliable technical coordination.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Support the responsible Project Engineer by coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, project management, and clients.
  • Prepare meeting inputs, maintain action logs, follow up on open items, and escalate unresolved questions.
  • Help procurement, engineering specialists, and suppliers assemble equipment specifications and scopes of work based on project requirements.
  • Arrange technical and cross-discipline reviews, track comments, check document completeness, and help keep drawings and project records current.
  • Track engineering changes, collect information on effort or scope impacts, and flag emerging issues for project and commercial management review.
  • Support construction, commissioning, closeout, and handover by routing field questions, tracking responses, collecting as-built inputs, and assembling engineering records.

What You Bring

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline.
  • You bring 3–5 years of relevant experience in substation design or construction, power systems, or a comparable engineering or project delivery setting.
  • You have experience supporting technical coordination and project execution; a background exclusively in substation design is not required.
  • You are familiar with, or have experience working with, air-insulated switchgear and gas-insulated switchgear equipment; this is a plus.
  • You have strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and time-management skills, and you can prioritize work, track commitments, meet deadlines, and communicate delays.
  • You can understand technical information, recognize issues, ask clear questions, and seek input from the right specialists while coordinating assigned work with guidance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

About the Team

You’ll work closely with Project Engineers and Senior Project Engineers who coordinate engineering activities from design through construction, commissioning, and handover. The team partners with multidisciplinary engineering groups, project management, clients, suppliers, procurement, construction, commissioning, and warranty support teams. Together, they help make sure technical information is clear, current, reviewed, and available when project teams need it. You’ll support station projects by helping clarify responsibilities, manage action items, and keep technical interfaces visible. The team values collaborative follow-through, practical problem-solving, and clear communication across many project partners. Your work will help assigned scopes and work packages move forward in a coordinated and reliable way.
