Where You’ll Work

The Senior IT Applications Engineer is a salary exempt position and will work hybrid (2 days per week) from any of the following offices: Florida (Sarasota, Tampa); Minnesota (Minneapolis); North Carolina (Charlotte); Ohio (Akron, Columbus, Toledo); South Carolina (Charleston).

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the technical owner and subject matter expert for the firm’s document management, case management, legal workflow, and business application platforms, providing end-user support and senior-level escalation for complex issues.
  • Develop and maintain application roadmaps aligned with firm objectives and technology strategy, while establishing architecture, administration, governance, security, and lifecycle management standards.
  • Oversee the configuration, administration, monitoring, maintenance, performance, reliability, and support of firm applications, including troubleshooting critical production incidents, coordinating vendor resolution, and participating in after-hours maintenance and upgrades.
  • Design and maintain enterprise integrations, APIs, data services, and automation connecting legal, financial, business, and cloud platforms, ensuring effective data flow and synchronization across document management, accounting, CRM, records management, and related systems.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve business processes through application enhancements, workflow automation, Microsoft Copilot, legal AI solutions, and other emerging technologies.
  • Lead application implementations, upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives, including technical requirements, project planning, testing, user acceptance testing, deployment, risk management, vendor coordination, and status reporting.
  • Partner with attorneys, practice groups, administrative departments, and IT leadership to understand business needs, translate requirements into technical solutions, and recommend technology-driven process improvements.
  • Mentor Application Analysts and other IT team members on troubleshooting, application architecture, integrations, and operational best practices, while developing technical documentation and promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience supporting enterprise business applications, including 5+ years supporting legal technology platforms within a law firm environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading application implementations, upgrades, migrations, and related projects, including management of third-party vendors and consulting partners.
  • Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise application integrations, APIs, web services, databases, SQL, and related networking technologies.
  • Experience with legal technology platforms such as iManage Cloud, Aderant, Elite 3E, Litera, Intapp, Relativity, and other law firm applications.
  • Strong project management, analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with users and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both as a team leader and collaborative team member.
