Original job description

BRING YOUR EXPERTISE. OWN THE BUILDING.

You've spent years keeping complex buildings safe, efficient, and running at their best. Now bring that experience to Shamin Hotels!

We're looking for a seasoned Chief Engineer to take full ownership of engineering and maintenance at one of our full-service hotels. You'll be the go-to expert for every system in the building, from guest rooms and HVAC to the restaurant, kitchen, meeting space, and pool. Whether you're working independently or leading a maintenance team, you'll set the standard for safety, quality, and guest comfort.

WHY YOU'LL ENJOY IT HERE

  • Real ownership. You run engineering for the property and have a direct voice in how it's maintained and improved.
  • Work that matters. Every comfortable guest room, reliable system, and smooth event reflects your expertise.
  • Variety and challenge. Preventive maintenance, capital projects, vendor work, and the occasional emergency call. No two days look the same.
  • Support behind you. Partner closely with your General Manager and lean on the resources of a large, established hotel company.
  • Room to grow. With 80+ hotels, we promote from within. Today's Chief Engineer could be tomorrow's Regional Engineering leader or beyond.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Promote safe work practices, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Plan, prioritize, and complete maintenance and repair work across the entire property
  • Manage a preventive maintenance program for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Maintain central plant and building systems, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, elevators, and fire and life safety systems
  • Coordinate maintenance and service for commercial kitchen, refrigeration, and laundry equipment.
  • Partner with food and beverage, banquet, housekeeping, and front desk teams to address maintenance needs and minimize disruptions.
  • Coordinate vendors and contractors, review proposals, and monitor work quality and completion.
  • Manage department budgets, expenses, supplies, and equipment purchases.
  • Ensure compliance with building, fire safety, environmental, and OSHA regulations, and keep accurate records and documentation
  • Lead emergency response procedures for equipment failures, power outages, and other unexpected events with a calm, practical approach
  • Lead, schedule, and develop maintenance staff

Qualifications

YOU'LL FIT RIGHT IN IF YOU...

  • A positive attitude and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Have proven experience in a senior maintenance, engineering, or facilities management role; full-service hotel experience preferred
  • Bring expert knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire and life safety systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues
  • Have experience with central plant equipment, commercial kitchen and laundry equipment, and pools
  • Lead with a positive, professional approach, work well independently, and can motivate and hold a team accountable
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and can explain technical issues to non-technical team members
  • Bring strong problem-solving skills and close attention to detail in planning, documentation, and record-keeping
  • Are comfortable using computers and other electronic devices, and are familiar with Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Are experienced in managing budgets, vendors, and contractors
  • Flexibility to respond to operational needs and emergencies, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Applicable licenses or certifications required for assigned work and location.
  • Have a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (preferred)
