Sandblaster/Paint Helper

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Assist with sandblasting structural steel and fabricated metal components to prepare surfaces for painting. Clean and prepare steel surfaces by removing rust, scale, dirt, and other contaminants. Assist painters with preparing materials for priming and painting. Mask or protect areas that should not be blasted or painted. Move, stage, hang, and position steel parts before and after blasting and painting. Assist with loading and unloading materials as needed. Prepare and organize blasting and painting equipment, tools, and supplies. Maintain clean and organized sandblasting and paint areas. Clean equipment and work areas after projects are completed. Inspect prepared surfaces and finished products for obvious defects or areas requiring additional work. Follow instructions from painters, fabricators, and supervisors. Perform additional general shop duties as needed. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and handling materials. Working around large steel components and fabrication equipment. Working in a dusty and dirty environment associated with abrasive blasting.
