CNC Machinist - 1st shift

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The CNC Machinist Large Parts is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machining equipment to manufacture precision metal components according to engineering drawings and customer specifications. This position involves working with CNC lathes, milling machines, and horizontal boring bars to produce custom parts of varying sizes and complexity. Machinists must accurately interpret blueprints, identify materials, perform dimensional inspections, and make machine adjustments to maintain quality standards. This role is well suited for individuals with technical machining knowledge, strong mechanical aptitude, and experience in a custom job-shop environment. Job Duties & Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC lathes, milling machines, and horizontal boring bars to manufacture precision metal components. Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, dimensions, and machining specifications. Identify different metal materials and determine appropriate machining methods and tooling. Select, install, and adjust cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding devices. Position, align, and secure metal components before beginning machining operations. Perform machining operations such as turning, milling, drilling, boring, and finishing. Monitor machine performance and adjust tooling, offsets, cutting speeds, and feed rates as necessary. Measure and inspect machined components using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments. Identify dimensional inaccuracies, tooling issues, and machining defects and make necessary corrections. Maintain quality standards while producing custom parts and components. Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintain an organized workstation. Follow established machining procedures, safety standards, and supervisor instructions. Work independently and collaborate with other machinists and production personnel to complete assigned projects. Large-capacity turning equipment for oversized components. Measuring & Material Handling Micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and precision gauges. Overhead cranes and lifting equipment for large components. Specialized fixtures, cutting tools, and workholding systems. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required Qualifications Two-year Machine Tool diploma, as stated in the employer\'s published posting. Ability to read and interpret machining blueprints and technical drawings. Knowledge of material identification and machining principles. Ability to accurately use measuring instruments and gauges. Strong mechanical and technical aptitude. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment. Dependable attendance and commitment to safety and quality standards. Preferred Qualifications Two to five years of machining experience in a custom job-shop environment. Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes, milling machines, or horizontal boring bars. Experience machining large or complex metal components. Knowledge of machine offsets, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and workholding techniques.
