Original job description
Senpilot builds AI agents that help utilities operate smarter, faster, and more reliably, automating everything from engineering workflows to regulatory filings and compliance. Our mission is to create the intelligence layer for the modern grid: AI systems that understand utility data, reason across it, and act autonomously to improve safety, resilience, and efficiency. We are building production-grade intelligence that sits at the heart of how critical infrastructure is planned, monitored, and regulated, helping utilities unlock the next generation of reliability. Joining Senpilot means joining a small, high-performance team that combines deep expertise in AI systems, data engineering, and energy infrastructure. We focus on generating value and we run toward the hard problems because that's where the value is. If you want to join a fast-growing team and help build the future of intelligent infrastructure, this is the place to do it. The Role This isn’t a typical BDR role. It’s a hybrid position: you’ll own the top of our funnel and also close smaller deals yourself. You’ll often be the first person a utility leader talks to at Senpilot. You’ll research accounts, create demand, and run virtual product demos for operations, engineering, customer, and regulatory leaders. Your accounts will be investor-owned utilities (IOUs), municipal utilities, and cooperatives across the US and Canada. You’ll book meetings that turn into real pipeline, take smaller opportunities from first call to signed order, and set up larger deals for our commercial team with full context and momentum. This is a role for an S-tier, AI-native BDR: someone who treats outbound as a craft, holds themselves to a number, and wants to learn a complex market fast. You stay current on the latest AI tooling, use it daily for prospecting, research, and messaging, and know where it helps and where it doesn’t. You’ll work closely with our founding and commercial teams and will have direct input into how our outbound motion is built and executed, including which AI tools and workflows we adopt. What you’ll do Build pipeline: generate qualified meetings with utility decision-makers in operations, engineering, customer service, regulatory, and IT. Work AI-first: use and experiment with the latest AI tools as part of your daily workflow for research, list building, personalization, call prep, and follow-up, so you produce output that used to be typical of a much larger team. Run multi-channel outbound at a high standard: personalized email, cold calls, LinkedIn, and event follow-up, using LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Gem, AI tools, and our sales stack. Use AI to personalize at scale without sacrificing quality. Research accounts deeply: learn each utility’s regulatory calendar, rate cases, grid projects, and pain points, using AI to work through filings, news, and public data in a fraction of the usual time, and use that to earn the first conversation. Qualify inbound interest quickly and hand off clean, well-documented opportunities. Own your numbers: hit monthly targets for meetings booked, product demos given, pipeline created, and deals closed, and keep our CRM accurate on a daily basis, automating updates wherever possible. Be creative and build playbooks: test messaging, sequences, personas, and more, and then turn the winners into playbooks for the commercial team. Bring the market back inside: share what you hear from prospects with product, marketing, and leadership. What you'll bring 2+ years as a BDR or SDR at a B2B SaaS or tech company, with a track record of consistently hitting or exceeding quota. Strong outbound fundamentals: you can write a sharp cold email, hold your own on a cold call, and handle objections from senior prospects. AI-native by default: you go beyond using AI for one-off tasks, building workflows and agents that automate entire processes end to end, and can point to specific examples of workflows you’ve automated and the business impact. Comfort selling to technical, senior, or highly regulated buyers. Experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure, or enterprise software is a major plus. A research-first mindset: you know what appeals to customers and are able to craft well developed messages Discipline and organization: clean CRM hygiene, sales motion discipline Fluency with modern sales tools (Sales Navigator, a sequencing tool, a CRM) and a habit of using AI to research and personalize at scale. Coachability, resilience, and drive: you ask for feedback, act on it fast, and want to grow into an AE role. Work Location We Appreciate the flexibility of hybrid work, and we also value the energy that comes from being in the same room. Our team gathers at our office in Brooklyn, NY three times a week. If you're able to join us in person on those days, we'd love to hear from you. Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas at this time. What is in for you Competitive Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this role is $70,000 USD - $90,000 USD, with an on-target earnings (OTE) range of $100,000 USD - $128,000 USD. Most new hires join near the midpoint. Actual compensation may vary within the range, or above or below it, based on factors such as experience, skills, location, and business needs. Equity Comprehensive health benefits from day one, for you and your dependents Time Off: 20 vacation days + 5 flex days around EOY holidays A clear growth path into an Account Executive role AI at Senpilot AI is embedded in how we work, and we encourage our team to lean on it to learn new skills, sharpen their craft, and put their energy toward the work that genuinely moves the needle. That extends to how we hire. We bring AI into our recruitment process not to take the humanity out of it, but to keep things organized and smooth so the experience feels more personal, not less. It gives our team room to focus on the parts that count: genuine conversations and well thought decisions. Above all, every decision is made by real people, drawing on genuine understanding, and rooted in our values and culture. Senpilot is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive and diverse workforce. Accommodations are available upon request during the recruitment process.
