Original job description
The Finance Functional Excellence Manager is the primary interface between Finance and ISIT for Seadrill's finance systems. The principal focus of the role is Oracle Fusion Finance and Oracle EPM. It also provides functional support for the other applications used across the Finance function, which is expected to be a limited part of the role. The purpose of the role is to understand the requirements of the business and translate them into clear, prioritized deliverables for ISIT, and undertake agreed hands-on functional administration and configuration activities directly within the Finance systems. Solution architecture, technical design and build remain with ISIT and its delivery partners; this role owns the business requirement, the functional outcome, and adoption across Finance. This is an individual-contributor role. Its core accountabilities are process optimization, functional system administration and governance, support of the period-end close, adoption of capabilities to maximize business value, and support of the control and reporting environment.
Business Partnering & Requirements
- Act as the single point of contact between Finance and ISIT for Oracle Fusion Finance, Oracle EPM and the other applications used across the Finance function, while directly undertaking agreed functional system activities within the role’s access and authority.
- Gather, challenge and document business requirements from across Finance, and translate them into functional specifications that ISIT can act on.
- Develop and maintain the Finance systems roadmap aligned with business priorities and Oracle's quarterly release cycle, recommending adoption of new functionality, automation and AI-enabled capabilities.
- Build business cases with Finance leadership for technology-related change.
- Represent Finance in ISIT governance forums, including the Change Advisory Board (CAB).
Process Optimization & Close Support
- Lead the standardization and optimization of Finance processes, working with process owners across the function.
- Provide functional ownership and system leadership for end-to-end Finance processes including Record-to-Report, Plan-to-Perform, Order-to-Cash and Acquire-to-Retire.
- Perform agreed hands-on functional administration and configuration activities within Oracle Fusion Finance and Oracle EPM, including reviewing system configuration, retrieving configuration screenshots and audit evidence, maintaining approved metadata and setup, and completing routine changes within defined access, security and change-control boundaries.
- Support operational processes including financial close, consolidation, planning, forecasting, and account reconciliation processes through effective utilization of Oracle Fusion and Oracle EPM capabilities.
- Investigate Finance system issues directly within the applications, resolve functional issues within the role’s capability and authority, and provide ISIT or delivery partners with clear diagnostic information where technical support is required.
- Manage the period-end ledger close within Oracle Fusion, including the Finance-side administrative activities required to run it - period open and close, period status, and maintenance of reporting and metadata structures - and resolve or route system issues arising during close.
Prioritization & Portfolio Management
- Own a single prioritized pipeline of Finance enhancement requests, defects and projects, agreed with Finance leadership and sequenced against ISIT capacity.
- Work with ISIT and other CoE Managers to determine Seadrill scope priority and coordinate a consolidated pipeline for shared resources.
- Work with ISIT and its delivery partners, including Infosys and Oracle Support, to ensure effective support, issue resolution, and delivery of Finance enhancements.
- Serve as the primary point of intake for Finance system requests and the primary escalation point for Finance application issues.
Release Management & Continuous Improvement
- Lead Finance readiness activities for Oracle quarterly releases, including impact assessments, testing coordination, business communications, and stakeholder sign-off.
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validation of system changes.
- Evaluate Oracle product roadmaps and quarterly releases to identify opportunities for business improvement and innovation, and drive continuous improvement in efficiency, automation, reporting and user experience.
- Identify Finance system training requirements and coordinate delivery with ISIT and the support providers.
Controls, Compliance & Reporting
- Establish, document, and maintain governance processes including governance around prioritization and change management.
- Maintain governance over Finance master data, reporting hierarchies, EPM metadata, consolidation structures, planning dimensions, and critical system configurations.
- Partner with Internal Audit, external auditors, and control owners to support SOX compliance activities and to ensure Finance systems support a strong and sustainable control environment.
- Evaluate impacts of system changes on financial reporting, key controls, and compliance requirements.
- Support governance of critical reports, automated controls, user access, and segregation of duties processes across all Finance systems.
- Assist with control and management reporting requirements, ensuring Oracle Fusion and Oracle EPM reporting remains fit for purpose as the control environment evolves.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Essential
- Experience supporting Oracle Fusion Finance and/or Oracle EPM applications including FCCS, EPBCS, ARCS, EDM.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into functional specifications and to work effectively with IT delivery teams.
- Strong understanding of accounting, financial reporting, planning, forecasting, consolidation, and close processes.
- Experience leading enterprise system releases, enhancements, and User Acceptance Testing activities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders, and drive organizational change.
- Understanding of SOX compliance and internal control environments.
Desired
- Experience working with managed service providers and system integrators.
- Exposure to finance applications beyond the core ERP.
- Experience in energy, offshore, industrial, or highly regulated environments.
- Exposure to AI capabilities and emerging technologies in finance systems.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Oracle or other finance systems certifications, or a professional accounting qualification, are considered advantageous.
