Brief Description of Duties Stony Brook University seeks a Project Support Specialist to support ongoing projects in biomedical optical imaging within the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The individual will contribute to experimental design, data acquisition, and analysis for speckle-based diffuse optical systems, specifically speckle contrast optical spectroscopy (SCOS) and diffuse correlation spectroscopy (DCS), used to measure cerebral blood flow. The position requires continuity with ongoing research efforts and prior familiarity with experimental systems, datasets, and analysis workflows to enable immediate contribution. The candidate is expected to contribute immediately to time sensitive deliverables, including ongoing grant and manuscript activities.
Duties:
- Conduct experimental measurements using optical imaging systems including SCOS and DCS
- Develop and maintain instrument control and synchronization software for high-speed camera-based acquisition, including camera, galvanometer, and DAQ triggering
- Develop, maintain, and optimize data acquisition and signal processing pipelines
- Analyze physiological data including cerebral blood flow and neurophysiological signals
- Assist in preparation of figures, reports, and grant-related materials
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot optical instrumentation
