Product Manager- SAS Languages- Hybrid, Cary, North Carolina

We’re a leader in data and AI. Through our software and services, we inspire customers around the world to transform data into intelligence - and questions into answers.

If you're looking for a dynamic, fulfilling career with flexibility and a world-class employee experience, you'll find it here. We're recognized around the world for our inclusive, meaningful culture and innovative technologies by organizations like Fast Company, Forbes, Newsweek and more.

About the job

As a Product Manager for SAS Languages, in collaboration with the wider product strategy team, you will be responsible for driving product strategy across the SAS platform for the SAS Programming Language and the libraries that underpin it, including those for cloud object storage. In this high-impact role, you will define and evolve the product direction for a portfolio of technologies that prepare analytic data tables, provide SQL query capabilities, and support authentication and cloud object storage.

You will work closely with software engineering teams to develop a platform product vision for this domain and craft detailed requirements to support the development of a robust and scalable product roadmap.

As a Product Manager, you will:

Shape the strategic direction for the data management capabilities of SAS’s flagship language to ensure they exceed customer needs, while aligning product plans with corporate strategy and business objectives.
Define and maintain product roadmaps, priorities, and OKRs; communicate product risks, decisions, and roadmap updates to stakeholders.
Lead product requirements definition and prioritization based on customer, stakeholder, prospect, and market input, and conduct discovery to translate findings into product strategy.
Drive alignment across Engineering, Design, UX, Program Management, and related teams to deliver customer and business outcomes.
Define success measures, conduct post-launch analysis, and develop business cases and product investment recommendations based on customer, market, financial, and product health data.
Help shape pricing, positioning, collateral, launch readiness, support readiness, and knowledge transfer, and represent the product externally to customers and prospects.
Own product lifecycle management decisions and identify emerging technologies, business threats, and new market opportunities.
Embrace curiosity, passion, authenticity and accountability. These are our values and influence everything we do.

Required qualifications

5+ years of experience in product management and/or software engineering related to data management, decision management, or AI/analytics.
Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in data science, computer science, or a related quantitative discipline.
An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
Solid working knowledge of modern data management, SQL and query processing, modern file and table formats (Parquet and Iceberg), authentication (EntraID, OAuth/OIDC and Kerberos), and cloud object storage (S3, ADLS, GCS).
Familiarity with one or more open-source runtimes, packages, and libraries (like Python or R).
Understand concepts of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and/or Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) business models.
Familiarity with Cloud Platform provider technologies.
Ability to translate complex technical and business information for diverse audiences.

Additional competencies, knowledge and skills

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage in technical discussions with customers, partners, and industry analysts.
Excellent critical-thinking skills with a demonstrated history of making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Proven ability to work in a highly collaborative, global environment across multiple business units.
Ability to innovate and define creative solutions with compelling user experiences that exceed customer expectations.
