We’re seeking two Directors of Product Management to establish and lead the product management function and define specifications for our category-defining Oncology or Prenatal diagnostic testing porfolios. These leaders will drive cross-functional initiatives to enhance product performance, differentiation, and quality, ensuring overall portfolio success. Our company is currently in stealth mode and based in San Diego, and the role can either be fully onsite or hybrid.

The role involves developing target product profiles for new applications, assessing competitive offerings, collaborating with R&D, Clinical, and Commercial teams, and translating customer insights into actionable product requirements. The candidate will shape global product strategies, guide new product introductions, and support market expansion.

The ideal candidates are strategic communicators and collaborative leaders with strong market understanding, intellectual curiosity, and the agility to master new technologies quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of our multigenerational Oncology or Prenatal product portfolio strategy in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Drive new product development and launch initiatives, ensuring alignment with business and commercialization objectives.

  • Gather and analyze voice of customer, competitive intelligence, and market trends to inform strategy and product roadmaps.
  • Ensure products meet evolving customer and market needs through continuous improvement and lifecycle optimization.
  • Oversee pricing strategy and lead price and margin improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Operations, Clinical, and Commercial teams to deliver differentiated, high-performing products.
  • Perform business and financial analyses to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Build and refine product management processes and best practices to strengthen organizational capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, engineering, or related field; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years developing and managing new product portfolios in the diagnostics, life sciences, or related scientific sector. Experiencing managing Oncology, Prenatal, Neurology, Cardiology, Infectious Disease, or Inflammatory/Automimmune Disease portfolios required
  • Demonstrated success managing complex product portfolios through full lifecycle - from concept to commercialization.
  • Experience engaging clinical KOLs.
  • Familiary with regulatory reimbursement pathways and regulatory bodies (ie. understanding of how to engage state-level medicaid for optimal reimbursement)
  • Proven ability to lead global product initiatives through structured, stage-gated processes.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with experience developing business cases and evaluating portfolio performance.
  • Skilled in cross-functional leadership, driving collaboration across R&D, operations, commercial, and clinical teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Results-oriented, proactive problem-solver with strategic thinking and executional rigor.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.

  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative environment where innovation and scientific rigor are deeply valued.
  • Join a seasoned and multidisciplinary team tackling high-impact problems at the intersection of science and engineering.
