SAIC is seeking a skilled Training Analyst to support the Flight Test Director (FTD) and broader MACH-TB Program Team. This role will directly contribute to test planning and execution, with a focus on:
- Developing and maintaining training products and mission documentation
- Supporting test execution activities (including procedure walkthroughs and data capture)
- Documenting off-nominal situations, including scenario development, procedures, and post-test reporting
The Training Analyst will help ensure mission personnel are prepared, informed, and able to execute complex hypersonic test missions in alignment with MACH-TB program and stakeholder requirements. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent technical writing, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving test environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Training & Mission Preparation
- Develop, update, and maintain training materials to support mission planning and test execution (e.g., training guides, SOPs, quick-reference checklists, e-learning content, briefings).
- Assist the Mission Planning Lead and Mission Director/Test Chief Engineer in creating and refining training plans for test team members, including test conductors, range support, and operations staff.
- Coordinate and help facilitate training sessions, rehearsals, and simulations for MACH-TB missions (table-top exercises, dry runs, and mission rehearsals).
- Capture lessons from training events and incorporate them into updated training products and mission documentation.
- Test Execution Support
- Support test execution by:
- Assisting with procedure walkthroughs, script refinement, and timing validation.
- Performing real-time data capture for mission activities (e.g., observations, decisions, deviations, and timing).
- Assisting in the use and refinement of execution checklists, launch constraints documents, and communication plans.
- Work closely with the FTD and test team to ensure test plans and procedures are clearly understood and actionable by all participants.
- Help track and manage action items and open issues arising during execution and readiness reviews.
- Off-Nominal Situations & Lessons Learned
- Work with engineers, operators, and the FTD to identify and document off-nominal scenarios, including:
- Pre-planned contingency scenarios
- Observed anomalies and deviations during tests or rehearsals
- Recovery and fallback procedures
- Create and maintain off-nominal playbooks that describe:
- Detection/indication cues
- Roles and responsibilities
- Decision paths and recommended actions
- Communications and reporting formats
- Support post-mission reviews, capturing lessons learned, root causes, and recommended updates to training, procedures, and mission artifacts.
- Incorporate off-nominal experience into future training materials, checklists, and mission planning documentation.
- Coordination & Communication
- Participate with the Working Groups, providing:
- Draft materials (briefings, read-ahead packages, minutes)
- Updated action item lists and status tracking
- Provide clear, concise written and verbal updates to the MPL and FTD, program leadership, and cross-functional teams.
- Assist in preparing professional briefings for senior leadership, including training status, documentation readiness, and test execution observations.
- Range & Stakeholder Support
- Support MPL and FTD and program staff in coordinating as it relates to:
- Training needs and rehearsals
- Documentation and procedure alignment
- Off-nominal contingency coordination
- Travel as required (typically 25–50%) for on-site training, rehearsals, site visits, and test execution activities.
Required Qualifications
- Active SECRET clearance (or ability to obtain), with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Operations, Instructional Design, Human Factors, or related discipline),
- and 3–7 years of relevant experience in training development, test operations, T&E documentation, or mission support;
- Additional years of directly relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- Demonstrated experience in technical documentation and procedure development for complex systems (e.g., aerospace, defense, test range, or similar environments).
- Strong technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex test concepts into clear, usable training materials and procedures.
- Proven ability to organize and manage multiple documents and tasks in parallel in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supporting test and evaluation (T&E), system integration events, flight tests, or similar mission-oriented activities.
- Proficiency with common office and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office/365, SharePoint, or equivalent) for document creation, version control, and coordination.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, follow direction from technical leads, and contribute in a collaborative environment.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy, traceability, and repeatability in procedures and documentation.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with hypersonic flight tests, missile test programs, or other advanced weapon system T&E environments.
- Familiarity with DoD T&E standards, practices, and acquisition processes.
- Background in instructional design, adult learning principles, or training system development (e.g., ADDIE, SAT).
- Experience capturing and documenting off-nominal events, root cause summaries, and lessons learned.
- Familiarity with mission architecture and test configuration management, and comfort working in multi-classification test environments (e.g., coordinating between unclassified/Secret/SCI artifacts).
- Experience supporting or facilitating readiness reviews, working groups, or mission planning meetings.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure during high-visibility, high-stakes test events.
Personal Attributes
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
- Clear, concise communicator – both written and verbal.
- Comfortable working in dynamic, evolving mission environments with changing priorities.
- Collaborative mindset, with a willingness to “roll up sleeves” and support wherever needed to ensure mission success.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for the quality and clarity of training and documentation.
