Senior Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer (Systems), to support the H-60 Multi-Mission Helicopters Program Office (PMA 299) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The candidate will provide technical leadership to identify, diagnose and resolve complex engineering issues involving Avionics and Navigation systems that can be complex and require a comprehensive understanding of H-60 aircraft systems and subsystems. The candidate will coordinate engineering support with NAVAIR’s engineering divisions, external field engineering facilities and test sites. The candidate will ensure that engineering resources are applied to issues in a timely and effective manner to ensure effective program execution. Work location is on-site in the Program Office. SECRET security clearance is required. Travel requirements are approximately 5%.

The selected candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:

• Provide systems engineering support to MH-60R/S Integrated Product Teams focusing on Avionics and Navigation systems.
• Provide technical systems engineering support for the following systems:
• Global Positioning Systems (GPS) Inertial Navigation System (INS) along with GPS antenna systems and components
• Mode-S, Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ABS-B) (Out) and RNAV 2
• Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS)
• Portable Tactical Area Communication (TAC) Interrogation Unit (PTIU) Mission Mounted Equipment (MME) Kit
• Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS)/Robust Environmental Technology for Enhanced Recovery to Navy Ships (RETERNS)
• Terraine Awareness Warning System (TAWS) II
• Perform programmatic or technical leadership roles in an organization identifying, formulating, designing, and/or testing practical solutions to engineering problems.
• Guide the development of modern complex systems; employing systems engineering methods and tools in the development of advanced complex systems
• Providing engineering analysis to support technical and financial proposals for engineering change proposals (ECPs) for new and upgraded systems.
• Analyze, document, and review avionics and navigation emerging requirements.
• Analyze the impact of changes to Navigation system requirements and interfaces.
• Review vendor technical recommendations
• Preparing for and executing Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR) events and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs); supporting Program Management Reviews.
• Providing technical plans in support of POM issue sheets.
• Conduct research in applied systems engineering to advance the field.
• Brief NAVAIR leadership on technical progress and analysis

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Must have a have a master’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university or a bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university and an additional four (4) years of recent and relevant experience is required.
• Must have ten (10) years of recent and relevant experience in an engineering position, three (3) of which must be directly related to DoD Systems.
• Demonstrated experience in the area of Avionics and Navigation engineering is required.Strong experience in ECPs, flight clearance process, general system safety products, general software development process, risk management, and requirements management.Experience in MH-60R/S systems and subsystems is strongly desired.
• NAVAIR experience is strongly desired.
• Must have strong communication skills and technical writing skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.
• Must be a US Citizen.

Compensation Statement

At Sabre Systems, LLC, compensation is based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements; however, final compensation will be determined by individual qualifications and applicable contract terms. The general salary range for this position is as follows: $148,330.00 - $164,420.00
