CNC Machinist Role:

Our client is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to independently set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools to manufacture precision parts. This position exists to ensure all components meet exact engineering specifications while maximizing shop productivity and maintaining high quality standards.

CNC Machinist Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools including lathes, mills, and drill presses
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T callouts, and work orders to determine machining sequences
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices
  • Set speeds, feeds, depth of cut, and other machine parameters to achieve required specifications
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges
  • Adjust machine coordinate and tooling offsets to correct out-of-tolerance conditions
  • Complete required production documentation including travelers, inspection records, and nonconformance reports
  • Maintain a safe, organized work area in compliance with 5S standards and perform routine machine maintenance

CNC Machinist Reporting Relationships:

The CNC Machinist reports directly to the Shop Supervisor and does not have any direct reports, but assists in providing basic setup guidance to Machine Operators.

About You:

  • Hold a high school diploma or GED, with vocational or technical training preferred
  • Possess a minimum of 2–4 years of hands-on machining experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T symbols
  • Maintain proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges
  • Understand speeds, feeds, and tooling selection for various workpiece materials
  • Exhibit a basic understanding of CNC operation and G-code programming
  • Maintain the ability to work consistently with tight tolerances of ±0.005" or closer
  • Bring experience with CNC controls like Fanuc, Haas, or Mazak, or hold a NIMS certification

Next Steps:

If you are a detail-oriented and precision-driven team player, we would like to hear from you.

Additional Information:

  • Equal Opportunity Employer: Our client is an Equal Opportunity Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status
  • Physical Demands: This position requires prolonged standing and walking on a concrete shop floor, frequent bending and reaching, and regular lifting of up to 50 lbs
  • Working Conditions: The environment involves regular exposure to metal chips, cutting fluids, lubricants, coolants, and moderate to loud noise levels, with a requirement for safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection as needed
