What You Will Do:
Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Supplier Tooling Specialist to support our Core Tooling Organization and manage a large portfolio valued at $30–50M annually. In this role, you will oversee cost, schedule, quality, and execution performance across a complex tooling supply base.
The Supplier Tooling Specialist serves as the primary operational interface for supplier management, ensuring accountability, performance transparency, and adherence to company standards. You will coordinate with Operations, Procurement, Quality, Tool Engineering, and external suppliers to ensure tooling readiness and compliance. The role also leads issue escalation, supplier recovery actions, portfolio visibility, and strategic capacity planning to strengthen the broader supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Performance Leadership
- Provide operational leadership across a multi‑site tooling supplier portfolio, ensuring execution to cost, schedule, and quality targets.
- Establish, maintain, and communicate performance expectations for all suppliers within the Core Tooling scope.
- Lead supplier performance reviews, drive recovery plans for late or high‑risk orders, and ensure accountable follow‑through.
- Partner with Procurement, Quality, and Tool Engineering to address rejects, repairs, remakes, and systemic performance issues. Portfolio Governance & Execution Oversight
- Maintain complete visibility to open orders, supplier capacity, backlog risk, and delivery commitments.
- Conduct weekly reviews with Tool Planners across Mod Centers to align priorities, aging orders, and bottlenecks.
- Monitor and enforce schedule adherence, cost compliance, documentation accuracy, and order progression across the full tooling life cycle.
- Lead escalations for critical path tooling, coordinating rapid response actions to protect operations.
Supplier Capability & Readiness Management
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, capacity, quality systems, and technical competency.
- Conduct onsite supplier audits to validate status, assess constraints, and verify corrective actions.
- Develop both internal/external supply base capability to support industrial ramp and readiness
Process, Standards, and Compliance
- Ensure supplier compliance with technical requirements, documentation standards, NDA/PDIA processes, and file‑transfer protocols (EDEX/SNC).
- Maintain accurate supplier contact information, compliance documentation, and system access requirements.
- Strengthen procedural discipline across the tooling supply chain by identifying gaps, establishing expectations, and driving continuous improvement.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as the central point of contact across Mod Centers, Procurement, Operations, Tool Engineering, Quality, and Suppliers.
- Facilitate weekly Procurement alignment on purchase order status, payment blocks, changes, and supplier escalations.
- Present performance trends, risks, capacity constraints, supplier recovery status, and strategic recommendations during operational reviews.
- Translate business needs into actionable supplier requirements and ensure clear communication of deliverables and expectations.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, business, operations management, or related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in supply chain, operations, manufacturing, tooling, supplier management, or similar execution‑focused roles.
- Demonstrated experience managing suppliers, evaluating capability, ensuring compliance, and driving performance improvement.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, including RFQ/RFP, purchase orders, order management, and supplier onboarding.
- Experience interpreting technical requirements, tooling documentation, and manufacturing workflows.
- Ability to manage a large portfolio with competing priorities and lead escalations effectively.
- Proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Office, and web‑based supply chain management tools.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Advanced degree in related field
- Experience in aerospace tooling or complex manufacturing environments.
- Background in supplier development, operational excellence, or capacity planning.
- Familiarity with Pratt & Whitney systems, standards, and supplier management processes.
