We are seeking a Software Architect to join our team and play a critical role in designing and developing cutting-edge software systems for real-time embedded applications. This position offers the opportunity to work on advanced technologies and contribute to solutions that address complex challenges. As a key member of the team, you will:
What You Will Do
- Develop software system architecture for a dual-layer processing pipeline on a Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC, ensuring high-throughput, ultra-low latency, and deterministic video pipelines.
- Collaborate with the firmware team to partition workloads, determining which signal processing algorithms should be offloaded to FPGA hardware versus executed in software.
- Review code, validate algorithm behavior, and provide actionable feedback to influence engineering practices and maintain steady program execution.
- Provide systems-level architectural support, including developing CONOPS, specification tree structures, and multi-CSCI decomposition to address customer-critical issues.
- Apply expertise in system-of-systems architecture, inter-CSCI and LRU interfaces, requirement flows, and hardware/software integration to drive clarity across sensor and processing capabilities.
- Collaborate with senior systems engineers and cross-functional technical leads to support integration and verification efforts.
- Implement and validate real-time algorithms while supporting software and hardware integration on embedded platforms.
- Translate technical considerations into actionable guidance and foster collaboration across engineering teams.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 8 years of prior engineering experience.
- Experience with Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC software development, real-time embedded systems, and EO/IR algorithm integration.
- Experience guiding technical development, mentoring engineers, and leading software teams through complex lifecycle activities.
- Experience implementing and validating real-time algorithms on embedded platforms.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with embedded Linux and BSP development, including custom Yocto/Petalinux builds and device tree configuration for multi-camera setups.
- Experience with hardware-software co-design using AMD Xilinx Vitis, integrating hardware pipelines with Linux runtime applications via XRT, and managing Xilinx runtime drivers.
- Experience with video pipelines and multimedia frameworks, including the Linux media subsystem and optimizing pipelines for low-latency, parallel camera streams.
- Experience utilizing AI-aided development tools to accelerate debugging, scripting, or firmware generation.
What We Offer
- Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. At RTX we value: Safety, Trust, Respect, Accountability, Collaboration, and Innovation.
