Original job description
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to support priority initiatives across our aviation, federal, transportation, aerospace, health & science, and corporate market sectors requiring secure, scalable, and client-focused application development.
This role serves as a technical subject matter expert responsible for designing, developing, and deploying full-stack applications within production environments. It balances front-end delivery with a deep focus on backend engineering to guarantee the long-term reliability, scalability, and extendibility of market-ready products.
You will work with teams across our market sectors to advance early-stage concepts into commercial products and services, carrying each solution through requirements definition, architecture, system and interface design, development, testing, evaluation, and launch into configurable, client-specific production environments. You will also provide full-stack development expertise to RS&H project teams and client contracts, delivering the applications, integrations, and automation that project work requires.
The role is also responsible for establishing the software development practices that both areas of work depend on, including development standards, version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, documentation, security protocols, and the selection of development tools and platforms. You will apply professional judgment to determine the appropriate approach for each solution, including when to deliver through low-code platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform, Power Automate and when to develop custom code in C, C#, .NET, Python, or TypeScript. The position has no direct reports and provides authoritative technical direction to project teams and junior staff.
Core Responsibilities
- Own software development for Digital Solutions offerings across the life cycle, from fitting concepts into products through delivery and transition to a product support team.
- Lead the scoping, level of effort, and technical approach for pursuits, projects, and internal initiatives. Own the transformation of manual workflows into automated and agentic processes.
- Establish the standards, tooling, and release practices that guide software development, and apply expert judgment on when to deliver through low code, no code, and GenAI assisted builds and when to write custom code.
Technical Skills
- Full stack development in C#, .NET, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Back-end and database design across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL platforms.
- Cloud-native development and deployment in Azure, AWS or GCP, including containerization and serverless architectures.
- Deployment of solutions into multiple client-hosted production environments, each with distinct constraints, security requirements, and release processes.
- API design and systems integration across data sources including PDFs, spreadsheets, data lakes, streaming IoT sensor feeds, point-cloud surveys, and BIM models.
- Secure development practices, including authentication and authorization, encryption at rest and in transit, vulnerability scanning, and dependency management.
- Automated testing, CI/CD, and version control at a level sufficient to establish these practices and standards for others to follow.
- Low-code platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform, and the integration of large language models and generative AI into custom software.
Leadership and Judgment
- Translating problem statements from non-technical colleagues into technical requirements and system architecture.
- Documenting design decisions and communicating technical trade-offs to business stakeholders.
- Selecting development tools and platforms based on cost, support requirements, and long-term maintainability.
- Establishing development standards, documentation, playbooks, and reusable components that accelerate future projects.
- Providing technical direction and code review to project teams and junior staff.
- Evaluating solution maturity to determine which concepts are ready to advance into production.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field with 10 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 5 years of experience.
- Full life cycle software development experience, from concept definition and requirements through architecture, development, testing, and production launch.
- Typically requires at least 5 years in architecture and engineering, professional services consulting, or a comparable environment developing software for operational or client-facing use.
- Experience establishing or maturing software development practices, including source control, build and deployment pipelines, automated testing, and release management.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
**Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States permanently. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or visa transfer.**
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related technical field.
- Custom plugin and extension development for Autodesk (Revit, Civil 3D), Bentley, or comparable design platform APIs.
- Domain experience in transportation, aviation, aerospace, or infrastructure systems, such as ITS, TSM&O, or digital twins.
- Experience integrating design models (BIM) with real-time operational data.
- Experience productizing prototypes, including SaaS delivery and reusable software platforms.
- Relevant cloud, development, architecture, or security certifications.
Why Join Us
- Advance software from early-stage concept through commercial launch in client production environments.
- Define the development standards, tools, and practices that support a growing software capability.
- Work across the full software development stack with modern cloud, automation, and AI technologies.
- Solve complex technical problems across our aviation, federal, transportation, aerospace, and health & science markets.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists whose domain expertise shapes the products you build.
