Position Overview We are seeking a reliable, energetic, and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support an individual living in West New York, Hudson County, NJ. This is a community-based position. The DSP will provide support in the individual’s home and assist with safe, structured participation in community activities. Seeking a DSP to provide in-home and community-based support to an adult male who requires significant assistance with activities of daily living and personal care. The DSP must be comfortable and experienced with assisting him with bathing, dressing, grooming, bowel toileting, and maintaining proper hygiene. Support is also needed during meals, as he requires chopped food, a low-salt diet, and close supervision and verbal reminders to eat slowly and chew thoroughly due to swallowing and aspiration concerns. The DSP must be able to administer/assist with medications as directed, monitor food-seeking behaviors, and provide redirection when necessary. Additional support includes maintaining line-of-sight supervision in the community, transportation to appointments and outings, and assistance with household tasks. The DSP should be patient, calm, and experienced in supporting individuals with behavioral needs, including self-injurious behaviors, grabbing, and aggression.
