Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Risk Management Coordinator for a temporary assignment with a university in Los Angeles. This is a hands-on, task-oriented position supporting the Director of Risk Management with insurance claims processing, accident investigations, injury reporting, compliance documentation, and administrative coordination. The ideal candidate has experience in insurance claims administration, risk management, workers' compensation, or workplace safety and is comfortable handling detailed documentation, maintaining accurate records, and supporting daily departmental operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, review, organize, and maintain insurance claims and supporting documentation across multiple lines of coverage.
  • Assist with workplace accident investigations, including interviewing individuals, collecting information, and preparing incident reports.
  • Record and track occupational injuries and illnesses, including maintaining OSHA-related documentation.
  • Maintain insurance claim files, loss runs, and other risk management records.
  • Communicate with workers' compensation insurance carriers and adjusters to provide accurate and updated claim information.
  • Review and maintain insurance policies, certificates of insurance, and related coverage documentation.
  • Prepare Excel spreadsheets, charts, and reports tracking accident, injury, and claims trends.
  • Assist the Director of Risk Management with preparing investigation findings, reports, and corrective action recommendations.
  • Compile accident reports and maintain supporting documentation for regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate safety committee meetings, training sessions, and other departmental activities.
  • Provide general administrative support, including data entry, filing, document review, and records management.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in risk management, insurance claims administration, workers' compensation, safety coordination, or a related administrative role.
  • Experience reviewing and processing insurance claims and maintaining detailed records.
  • Familiarity with workplace incident reporting, accident investigations, and occupational injury documentation.
  • Knowledge of OSHA reporting requirements and insurance documentation preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheets, tracking reports, and basic charts.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple administrative tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in a hands-on, support-focused position.

Ideal Candidate

  • We are looking for someone who enjoys hands-on administrative and coordination work rather than a high-level management position. The successful candidate will be comfortable processing claims, reviewing documents, maintaining files, tracking information, and completing detailed risk management tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
