We are looking for an experienced tax specialist to join a public accounting firm in New Jersey. This position is well suited for someone who brings strong technical tax review capabilities, enjoys guiding team members, and can manage client work with accuracy and care. The role offers the opportunity to oversee a range of corporate and individual tax matters while contributing to client service and engagement success.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the review of complex tax filings for corporations, pass-through entities, individuals, and related state returns to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Direct multiple client assignments at once, balancing priorities and keeping projects on schedule during busy filing periods.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to entry-level team members by coaching their work, answering technical questions, and supporting career development.
  • Analyze challenging tax matters, perform technical research, and identify practical strategies that may benefit clients.
  • Support the onboarding of new client relationships by examining historical filings and helping establish an effective service approach.
  • Work closely with firm leadership to define engagement expectations, align staffing needs, and maintain clear client communication.
  • Contribute to tax compliance and planning efforts across corporate income tax, annual income tax provision, and sales and use tax matters when applicable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA or EA credential preferred; candidates actively pursuing either designation will also be considered.
  • At least 4 to 6 years of experience in public accounting, preferably within a small to mid-sized firm environment.
  • Demonstrated background reviewing complex tax returns for both business entities and individual clients.
  • Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring staff in a detail-focused services setting.
  • Proficiency with ProSystem fx and QuickBooks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with solid organization and analytical judgment.
