Tax Preparer

We are looking for a detail-oriented Tax Preparer to support the preparation of individual income tax filings for a tax consulting team in Brea, California. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for someone with hands-on experience handling individual tax returns accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with Lacerte tax software and can manage deadlines while maintaining a high standard of compliance and client service.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare individual income tax returns with accuracy, completeness, and attention to applicable tax rules.
• Review financial and tax-related documents to gather the information needed for timely personal return filings.
• Use Lacerte tax software to enter data, calculate tax positions, and finalize return documentation.
• Identify missing, inconsistent, or unclear client information and follow up to resolve issues before submission.
• Maintain organized tax files and supporting records in accordance with internal and regulatory standards.
• Communicate with team members as needed to clarify return details and keep preparation work on schedule.
• Monitor filing deadlines and prioritize workload to ensure returns are completed within required timeframes.
• At least 2 years of experience preparing individual income tax returns.
• EA certification a big plus.
• Practical knowledge of personal income tax preparation and related supporting documentation.
• Proficiency with Lacerte tax software in a detail-focused tax preparation environment.
• Ability to review financial information carefully and detect discrepancies or missing details.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple returns and deadlines effectively.
