Original job description

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join a New York-based public accounting firm's new office in West Palm Beach. This role is ideal for a tax specialist who can lead complex engagements, provide thoughtful guidance to clients, and support the development of staff. The position offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of tax matters while helping businesses and individuals navigate compliance, planning, and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:

Lead the review of tax filings and projections for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Direct complex tax planning initiatives and develop practical structures that align with client goals and regulatory requirements.
Identify additional advisory opportunities by assessing client needs and recommending value-added tax and accounting services.
Evaluate and introduce technology-driven improvements that enhance the efficiency of tax preparation and financial compliance workflows.
Conduct in-depth research on complicated federal and state tax issues and translate findings into clear guidance for clients and internal teams.
Oversee the review of financial statements and related reporting engagements, including compilations and review-level work.
Supervise engagement teams by assigning work, coaching staff, and supporting ongoing career development.
Manage client engagements from planning through completion, serving as the primary point of coordination across deliverables and timelines.
Advise clients on business and accounting matters, including support in areas that may extend to controller-level guidance.
Monitor and manage federal, state, and local tax examinations, coordinating responses and representing client interests throughout the audit process.
5+ years of recent public accounting tax experience, including work with individuals and middle-market business clients.
Active CPA certification is required.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once while maintaining strong organization and meeting deadlines.
High level of accuracy with a consistent focus on detail and quality of work.
Strong analytical and research capabilities with sound judgment in resolving complex tax matters.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and remain productive in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with clients and internal teams.
Proficiency with tax and accounting software, including QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel; experience with CCH Axcess, CCH ProSystem fx, or related platforms is a plus.
