We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to lead corporate tax activities for a dynamic organization in New York City. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with strong technical knowledge of U.S. federal and multistate taxation, combined with practical experience overseeing tax reporting, compliance, and audit support. The position offers the opportunity to work across domestic and international tax matters while partnering with external advisors and internal stakeholders to maintain accurate and timely tax operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and review of U.S. corporate income tax filings, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Oversee multistate tax matters, including nexus evaluations, apportionment analysis, and state income and franchise tax obligations.
  • Manage the quarterly and annual tax provision process under ASC 740, including current and deferred calculations, effective tax rate analysis, and account reconciliations.
  • Coordinate tax audit activities by responding to inquiries, gathering support, and working closely with external advisors and tax authorities.
  • Support international tax matters related to transfer pricing, intercompany activity, and coordination with a foreign parent or global headquarters.
  • Monitor and assist with indirect tax responsibilities, including sales and use tax compliance and related issue resolution.
  • Partner with finance and accounting teams to ensure tax impacts are properly reflected in financial reporting and business transactions.
  • Identify tax risks and planning opportunities while helping improve processes, documentation, and overall tax function effectiveness.
  • At least 7 years of progressive tax experience, with a strong foundation in corporate taxation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in U.S. federal corporate income tax and multistate tax compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with ASC 740, including tax provisions, deferred taxes, and effective tax rate reporting.
  • Background managing state tax matters such as nexus, apportionment, and income or franchise tax filings.
  • Familiarity with tax audits, external advisory firm management, and indirect tax exposure such as sales and use tax.
  • Experience working with multinational tax issues, including transfer pricing and intercompany transactions.
  • CPA certification or a Master’s degree in Taxation is preferred.
  • Industry experience in luxury, retail, consumer products, or distribution is a plus.
