Original job description

We are looking for a Systems Administrator to support daily IT operations and provide responsive technical assistance to employees in Austin, Texas. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing hands-on desktop support with broader systems administration responsibilities across Windows, Microsoft 365, and virtual server environments. The role offers the chance to contribute to infrastructure stability, end-user productivity, and security-focused technology operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver front-line technical support for employees by diagnosing and resolving issues involving workstations, laptops, software, printers, connectivity, applications, and account access.
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop and laptop hardware, operating systems, and standard business applications across Windows and Mac environments.
  • Support the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Office applications, Teams, Teams Voice, and SharePoint, to ensure reliable collaboration and communication tools.
  • Assist with cybersecurity-related activities by helping maintain secure system configurations and supporting protection measures across the environment.
  • Contribute to the administration and upkeep of virtual infrastructure using VMware vSphere and vCenter, including routine operational support.
  • Perform regular server checks, basic administration tasks, and ongoing monitoring to help maintain system availability and performance.
  • Support Active Directory administration by assisting with user access, directory maintenance, and related system management tasks.
  • Apply updates, patches, and configuration changes to Apple Macintosh devices to maintain security and operational readiness.
  • Track technology assets by coordinating equipment lease timelines, refresh planning, replacements, and end-of-term activities.
  • Create and update clear technical documentation for support procedures, desktop standards, server operations, and recurring IT processes.
  • At least 2 years of experience in help desk, desktop support, or systems support within an IT environment.
  • Working knowledge of Windows desktop and Windows Server administration.
  • Experience supporting Active Directory and Microsoft 365, including Exchange-related administration.
  • Familiarity with desktop imaging and standard endpoint deployment practices.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and issue-resolution skills when supporting end users.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage priorities with limited supervision.
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts; exposure to VMware administration is preferred.
  • Experience supporting both Dell hardware and Apple Macintosh systems is preferred.
