We are looking for a Supply Chain Planner to support inventory planning and purchasing activities for a Long-term Contract position in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota. This role focuses on maintaining the right material availability, improving inventory health, and supporting efficient supply chain execution across the business. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, sound planning judgment, and the communication skills needed to work effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee inventory performance by reviewing stock positions and demand patterns to maintain appropriate supply levels while reducing shortages and excess material.
  • Calculate order strategies, including economic order quantities and reorder points, to improve purchasing efficiency and support cost control objectives.
  • Partner with sales, operations, customer service, and logistics teams to build supply plans that reflect business needs and operational capacity.
  • Investigate supplier billing discrepancies with Accounts Payable and coordinate return transactions, credits, and sample order activity with vendors.
  • Use ERP and planning tools to evaluate key metrics, monitor product usage, issue purchase orders, and support data-driven replenishment decisions.
  • Drive inventory improvement efforts by reducing slow-moving, aging, and obsolete stock in collaboration with site personnel and other stakeholders.
  • Identify supply chain risks, escalate potential issues early, and develop practical contingency actions to limit disruptions to service and supply.
  • Maintain clear cross-functional communication to keep departments aligned on priorities, planning updates, and supply chain objectives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 3-8 years of experience in a fast-paced environment with direct responsibility for inventory analysis, replenishment planning, and purchase order creation.
  • Hands-on experience working with ERP, MRP, or related planning systems such as SAP, Oracle, or JDE EnterpriseOne.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret KPIs, usage trends, and inventory data to support planning decisions.
  • Knowledge of logistics, customer service coordination, and supply planning within manufacturing or distribution environments.
  • Ability to resolve operational issues involving suppliers, invoices, returns, and material flow with a high level of accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and external partners.
