Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support key accounting activities for a growing retail business in Norwalk, Connecticut. This Long-term Contract position will focus on revenue-related accounting, account reconciliations, and order-to-cash processes across major sales channels. The ideal candidate brings strong NetSuite experience, works well across departments, and can contribute quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the full order-to-cash cycle for Walmart activity in NetSuite, including billing approved orders, recording customer payments, and processing credits tied to deductions or promotional programs.
• Calculate, record, and adjust retailer allowance accruals in accordance with revenue accounting guidance, and complete monthly close tasks for the Walmart channel.
• Monitor deduction activity, follow shortage claims through resolution, and reconcile Walmart accounts receivable balances against third-party logistics reporting.
• Collaborate with logistics, technology teams, and external fulfillment partners to improve invoice and remittance data workflows while documenting procedures for ongoing use.
• Reconcile cash proceeds from Amazon and other sales channels to general ledger activity and bank records, resolving discrepancies as they arise.
• Prepare journal entries and support general ledger accuracy through timely account analysis and month-end reconciliation work.
• Assist with revenue-related reporting and provide accounting support for cross-functional initiatives tied to retail and marketplace operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a staff accountant or similar role.
• Practical, hands-on experience working in NetSuite is required.
• Background in retail, omnichannel, or Amazon marketplace accounting environments.
• Knowledge of order-to-cash processes, cash application, customer deductions, and retailer allowance accounting.
• Proficiency in journal entries, general ledger work, and revenue accounting concepts, including ASC 606.
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyze and reconcile large volumes of financial data.
• Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and partner effectively with cross-functional teams.
