We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations and help maintain accurate financial records for a dynamic manufacturing organization in Archbold, Ohio. This role contributes to timely reporting across several accounting areas, including imports, fixed assets, tax, payroll, treasury, accounts receivable, and the general ledger. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting tasks tied to import activity, including reviewing bank transactions, recording wire-related activity, and monitoring shipment data to support accurate financial tracking.
- Prepare and post journal entries, examine general ledger activity, and complete account reconciliations to help ensure reliable monthly financial results.
- Support fixed asset accounting by recording additions and disposals, maintaining depreciation schedules, and verifying related financial records.
- Contribute to tax and payroll processes through preparation of supporting entries, accruals, filings, and documentation requests associated with compliance activities.
- Assist treasury and accounts receivable operations by applying cash receipts, helping with lockbox processing, reconciling bank accounts, and supporting short-term cash forecasting.
- Review financial information for accuracy, investigate variances or discrepancies, and communicate findings to support informed decision-making.
- Participate in month-end close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, consolidation support, and preparation of internal financial reporting.
- Provide documentation and analysis for external audit requests and collaborate with cross-functional partners to maintain strong financial controls.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university.
- At least 1 year of relevant accounting experience; 3 years of related experience is preferred.
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, including general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliation processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills for analysis, reporting, and data organization.
- Experience supporting areas such as sales tax, financial analysis, and routine accounting operations in a structured environment.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, maintain accuracy in detailed work, and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Experience with SAP and Crystal Reports is preferred; progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
