We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a fast-moving accounting team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for an accounting specialist who can step in quickly, support daily financial activities, and help maintain accurate reporting across multiple entities. The position offers an immediate opportunity to contribute within a real estate and private investment environment while managing a high volume of work with minimal ramp-up time.
Responsibilities:
- Manage core accounting tasks that support daily operations and assist with closing activities at month-end.
- Prepare journal entries, post transactions to the general ledger, and help keep financial records complete and accurate.
- Reconcile balance sheet and other key accounts, researching variances and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Support accounting and reporting needs across multiple entities, ensuring consistency and timely financial information.
- Analyze financial data in Excel to produce recurring reports and respond to ad hoc reporting requests.
- Partner with internal teams to gather, verify, and organize accounting information needed for accurate reporting.
- Maintain account schedules and documentation to support audits, reviews, and internal accounting processes.
- At least 2 years of accounting experience, including work in a Staff Accountant or closely related role.
- Strong working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliation procedures.
- Experience handling accounting responsibilities for multiple entities or business units.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables, and lookup functions such as VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP.
- Background in real estate, property accounting, private investment, family office, or a similar environment is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return support is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and manage several priorities in a fast-paced setting.
