We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a manufacturing finance team in Kansas in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This role supports core accounting activities by helping maintain accurate financial records, coordinating customer invoicing, and contributing to timely close processes. The position also partners with internal teams to address billing questions, oversee expense reporting activity, and help ensure compliance with financial policies and reporting standards.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily invoicing activities to ensure customer billing is completed accurately and within required timelines.
- Review shipment and sales information to confirm all billable activity is captured and recorded correctly.
- Research invoice-related issues and work cross-functionally with operations, shipping, and customer-facing teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare recurring and standard journal entries while maintaining the accuracy of general ledger activity.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close tasks, including account analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet items.
- Maintain fixed asset records and related documentation, and assist with financial schedules requested by leadership or auditors.
- Administer the corporate card and expense reporting process, including transaction review, coding validation, and employee support.
- Evaluate expense submissions for completeness, policy compliance, and proper accounting treatment, and assist with additional finance projects as needed.
- Provide billing coverage during early morning or remote evening processing windows when business needs require it.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, or equivalent hands-on accounting experience of approximately 3–4 years.
- Experience in billing, account reconciliations, expense reporting, and general ledger support within a business environment; manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Understanding of core accounting practices, financial reporting, journal entries, and general ledger activity.
- Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, or related tax support functions is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy across multiple financial processes.
- Ability to organize competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with Concur or comparable expense management tools, as well as accounting software, is preferred.
