Original job description

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a growing accounting team in Addison, Texas on a contract-to-permanent basis. This role is well suited for an accounting team member who enjoys balancing daily transactional work with broader ledger support and close activities. The position works closely with the Accounting Manager and plays an important part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting needs, and helping keep core accounting operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a high volume of vendor invoices each week, ensuring timely and accurate entry, review, and payment processing.
  • Create and distribute customer billings while maintaining accurate accounts receivable records and follow-through on related transactions.
  • Record incoming payments, including standard customer remittances and credit card activity, and apply cash accurately within the accounting system.
  • Monitor accounting performance indicators and maintain reporting that helps track operational and financial trends.
  • Prepare driver settlement documentation and review payment details for accuracy before payroll processing.
  • Support month-end close by assisting with journal activity, reconciliations, and other accounting tasks assigned by the Accounting Manager.
  • Investigate billing discrepancies, correct invoice errors, issue credits or rebills when needed, and maintain clean account records.
  • Establish and maintain vendor and customer profiles in the accounting platform to support accurate transaction processing.
  • Produce ad hoc customer and accounting reports to meet internal and external information requests.
  • Provide backup assistance for additional accounting duties as needed to support department coverage and continuity.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in Accounting or a closely related field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on general ledger accounting experience in a business environment that requires strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks or comparable accounting software, along with solid Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with NetSuite is preferred; familiarity with Oracle or SAP is also valuable.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with management, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Industry exposure to transportation or experience with platforms such as Triumph Pay would be considered a plus.
