Original job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client's team based in Las Vegas, Nevada. This position plays a key role in managing accounts payable activity, supporting monthly close, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and eager to expand their accounting scope over time while contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a high volume of vendor invoices, verify coding accuracy, and help ensure payments are completed within established timelines.
  • Coordinate approval workflows for invoices and other spend requests while following internal control standards and documentation requirements.
  • Investigate questions from vendors and internal stakeholders, resolve payment or invoice discrepancies, and maintain clear communication throughout the process.
  • Prepare month-end accrual schedules, monitor outstanding obligations, and support accurate expense recognition and cutoff procedures.
  • Assist with journal entries, general ledger activity, and account reconciliations related to the monthly financial close.
  • Compile supporting schedules and financial information for audits, compliance reporting, and other finance-related reviews.
  • Use approved technology and AI-enabled tools to improve research, communication, and day-to-day workflow efficiency while safeguarding sensitive data.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, document improved workflows, and share effective productivity practices with the broader team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of accounting experience, including direct exposure to accounts payable functions.
  • Working knowledge of accrual-based accounting and core U.S. accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to organize, analyze, and reconcile financial data.
  • Experience with journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with month-end close processes and supporting schedules.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and maintain accuracy with limited oversight.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or progress toward an accounting certification is a plus.
