Original job description

We are looking for a dependable Staff Accountant to join a hospitality organization in Dallas, Texas in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting specialist who works well independently, handles a steady workload with accuracy, and brings a practical mindset to a fast-paced, multi-location environment. The role suits someone who is comfortable asking thoughtful questions, supporting a team through periods of change, and contributing consistent, high-quality work during demanding close cycles.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and on schedule to support monthly accounting activities across multiple locations.
  • Perform account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet tie-outs, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy by reviewing assigned accounts, completing close checklists, and ensuring supporting documentation is properly organized.
  • Assist with month-end close processes, including handling increased workloads and extended hours when business needs require additional support.
  • Work within Great Plains and BlackLine to complete daily and monthly accounting tasks while helping improve consistency in existing workflows.
  • Support accounting operations in a multi-site hospitality setting by managing high-volume transactional activity with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Contribute to tax-related accounting support, including work connected to corporate tax return processes as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to clarify issues, raise questions early, and provide steady execution in an environment that continues to evolve.
  • Follow established procedures while adapting to updated tools and processes, including enhancements related to recently implemented accounting platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
  • Prior staff accounting experience is required; this role is not intended for entry-level candidates.
  • Experience working in a multi-site business environment, preferably within hospitality, is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with journal entries, general ledger activity, and account reconciliation is required.
  • Hands-on experience with bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and close support is essential.
  • Familiarity with BlackLine and Great Plains is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a high volume of work, and maintain quality during extended close periods is required.
  • Detail-oriented judgment, reliability, and a steady approach to team collaboration are important for success in this role.
