Original job description
We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join a growing team in Norcross, Georgia. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing day-to-day accounting work with ownership of receivables, billing, cash activity, and month-end support. The position calls for strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to keep financial records accurate while partnering with internal teams and customers.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee customer invoicing and project-based billing by interpreting contract terms and ensuring charges are issued accurately and on schedule.
- Record revenue, accounts receivable activity, and related journal entries while maintaining proper support for recognition and deferral schedules.
- Manage collections efforts by reviewing aging reports, contacting customers regarding outstanding balances, and helping resolve payment or billing concerns.
- Post cash receipts, reconcile customer accounts, and track payment patterns to support timely follow-up and sound credit decisions.
- Monitor daily cash positions, assist with banking activity, and investigate account discrepancies through timely bank reconciliations.
- Coordinate treasury-related tasks such as electronic payments, wire activity, and oversight of corporate credit card usage and account balances.
- Contribute to month-end and year-end close by preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and researching general ledger variances.
- Support financial reporting through account analyses, closing schedules, and preparation of information used in management reports and compliance filings.
- Help strengthen accounting operations by assisting with audits, budgeting support, process improvements, internal controls, and other ad hoc financial projects.
- Experience in staff accounting with hands-on responsibility for general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Working knowledge of accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, cash application, aging review, and collections coordination.
- Familiarity with revenue recognition principles and project billing tied to customer agreements.
- Background supporting cash management, bank reconciliations, and corporate treasury-related activities.
- Ability to participate in month-end close and prepare accurate financial support on tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment while collaborating across departments.
