We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a growing organization in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys managing accounts payable activities while also contributing to reconciliations, monthly close tasks, and broader accounting support. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement and the chance to work across multiple entities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including reviewing invoices, confirming supporting documentation, and entering transactions accurately into Sage Intacct.
- Investigate vendor questions, resolve billing discrepancies, and keep supplier records current, including tax documentation and onboarding details.
- Record and reconcile bank and credit card activity, ensuring transactions are posted correctly and supported by proper documentation.
- Perform monthly reconciliations for clearing accounts and compare general ledger balances against vendor aging reports across multiple entities.
- Support month-end close by preparing journal entries, assisting with account analysis, and completing assigned accounting tasks on schedule.
- Maintain the accounting shared inbox, organize incoming financial records, and electronically file backup for deposits and other key documents.
- Assist with intercompany accounting activity and help ensure balances are properly reconciled between related entities.
- Coordinate annual 1099 preparation, including W-9 tracking, vendor setup validation, and filing support.
- Contribute to special projects and ad hoc reporting requests from leadership while keeping process documentation updated in project management tools.
- Hands-on experience in accounts payable and general accounting, including invoice processing, reconciliations, and month-end support.
- Proficiency with Sage Intacct and familiarity with bill.com or similar accounts payable platforms.
- Strong working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger activity, and account reconciliation practices.
- Understanding of vendor maintenance processes, 1099 reporting, and supporting tax-related documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across different entities while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
- Comfortable handling bank and credit card reconciliations with strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, or related accounting compliance areas is valued.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with vendors and internal stakeholders.
