Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced Sr. Tax Accountant & Preparer for a seasonal contract assignment running from December through May. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented tax professional with deep experience preparing individual and business tax returns, ensuring compliance, and supporting clients through the busy tax season.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, and/or trusts.
- Gather, analyze, and organize financial records and tax documents to ensure accurate filings.
- Identify tax issues, research applicable regulations, and apply appropriate tax treatment.
- Ensure compliance with current tax laws, deadlines, and filing requirements.
- Communicate with clients to clarify tax information, resolve discrepancies, and provide filing updates.
- Support amended returns, extensions, and tax notices as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive financial information.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of recent tax preparation experience.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
- Experience preparing complex individual and business returns preferred.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- CPA, EA, or relevant tax certification is a plus.
