Original job description
We are looking for an experienced technology operations leader to oversee infrastructure, support services, and security functions for a growing organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. This role is ideal for someone who can balance strategic planning with direct involvement in day-to-day operations, while guiding a small IT team and coordinating external partners. The successful candidate will bring strong technical depth, sound business judgment, and the ability to translate operational priorities and risks for non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Direct daily technology operations across infrastructure, end-user support, systems administration, network reliability, and information security.
- Lead and mentor a small-to-midsize IT team while remaining actively involved in troubleshooting, service delivery, and operational improvements.
- Manage core Microsoft-based environments, including Azure and Active Directory, to support performance, availability, and scalability.
- Oversee cybersecurity practices by strengthening controls, monitoring risk, and supporting compliance-focused operational standards.
- Administer help desk processes and ticket workflows using a service management platform such as Freshservice or a comparable system.
- Coordinate vendor partnerships, negotiate service agreements, and hold third-party providers accountable for delivery and performance.
- Guide formal change management activities, including leadership of Change Advisory Board discussions and approval processes.
- Prepare and manage IT budgets, align spending with business needs, and prioritize investments across operational initiatives.
- Communicate technology performance, operational issues, and risk considerations clearly to leaders across the business.
- 7+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 3 years in a senior technology operations leadership role.
- Broad hands-on background spanning infrastructure, technical support, systems, networking, security, and operational management.
- Demonstrated success owning multiple IT functions at once, including help desk, infrastructure, security, and vendor oversight.
- Experience working effectively in a smaller organization where leaders are expected to be both strategic and hands-on.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft environments, with practical experience in Azure and Active Directory.
- Familiarity with ticketing or IT service management platforms; experience with Freshservice, Freshworks, or similar tools is valuable.
- Proven ability to manage vendors, influence business stakeholders, and explain technical risk in clear business terms.
- Experience supporting distributed or multi-site environments is preferred; exposure to franchise, retail, education, childcare, or consumer services settings is a plus.
