Sr. Java Developer

We are looking for a senior Java developer to support enterprise banking applications in Des Moines, Iowa. This Long-term Contract position calls for a hands-on engineer who can build scalable backend services, contribute to modern API development, and collaborate on user-facing features with Angular and JavaScript. The ideal candidate brings deep experience across Java-based systems, microservices, and database work, along with the ability to deliver reliable solutions in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications that support critical banking operations.
• Build and enhance RESTful services and microservices to improve system scalability, performance, and integration.
• Develop backend components using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Maven while following sound engineering practices.
• Partner with front-end developers to deliver responsive features using JavaScript and Angular.
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries to support application functionality and data accuracy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical solutions, review code, and resolve production issues.
• Use GitHub and standard version control practices to manage source code and support team-based development.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and help implement secure, dependable software solutions for banking platforms.
• 5+ years of software development experience, including senior-level work with Java technologies.
• Strong command of Core Java and experience building enterprise-grade backend applications.
• Proven expertise in REST API development, REST API design, and microservices architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Spring, Spring Boot, and Maven in production environments.
• Proficiency with JavaScript and Angular for front-end feature development.
• Strong SQL skills, including the ability to read, write, and optimize complex queries.
• Experience using GitHub or similar version control tools in a collaborative development setting.
• Banking industry experience is preferred.
