This role supports compliant grant execution by coordinating reporting, budget oversight, and subrecipient financial monitoring while partnering closely with program leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting knowledge, sound judgment around federal grant requirements, and a detail-oriented approach to maintaining accurate, audit-ready records.
Responsibilities:
- Lead financial oversight of subrecipient relationships by evaluating risk, reviewing invoices and financial submissions, and verifying supporting records in line with federal grant guidance.
- Draft and coordinate subaward documentation with program leadership, ensuring required terms and compliance provisions are properly incorporated.
- Support purchasing activities tied to the award by working with internal stakeholders to align procurement actions with applicable federal standards.
- Monitor grant spending against the approved budget, prepare required financial reports, and manage reimbursement or cash draw processes.
- Maintain accurate labor allocation records and supporting documentation for employees whose time is charged to the grant.
- Track items that require sponsor approval, document budget adjustments, and coordinate updates with the appropriate program lead.
- Keep grant files organized and audit-ready throughout the award lifecycle, including preparation for final financial closeout.
- Contribute to core accounting activities such as reconciliations, journal entry review, and month-end support related to grant-funded transactions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing the financial components of grants or awards, preferably within a federally regulated environment.
- Strong working knowledge of general ledger activity, month-end close procedures, and account reconciliation practices.
- Experience preparing journal entries, reconciling bank activity, and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Familiarity with subrecipient oversight, financial reporting, and budget tracking for restricted funding.
- Understanding of federal grant compliance requirements, including procurement and documentation standards.
- High level of accuracy, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
