Original job description

Are you a tax professional in public accounting seeking strong compensation, excellent benefits, and better long-term career flexibility? Dawoud Kazimee with Robert Half is searching for a Senior Client Tax Accountant to support individuals with tax planning, preparation, and filing services. This role is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys advising clients directly, interpreting complex tax matters, and delivering accurate returns across multiple jurisdictions. You’ll also work closely with financial planning professionals to align tax guidance with broader client objectives.

Our client, a highly established firm in the financial services industry, is building a new client-facing tax services team and hiring Senior Tax Accountants. This is a unique opportunity to join a newly formed group supporting high-net-worth clients with tax preparation, filing, planning, consulting, and client advisory services.

If you enjoy tax work and client interaction but want to step away from the traditional CPA firm model, this could be an excellent next move.

Why consider this opportunity?

  • Strong compensation plus bonus (posted salary range does not include bonus)
  • Outstanding benefits, including 100% paid health, dental, and vision premiums for employees and dependents
  • Better work-life balance with a 45-hour workweek and minimal overtime
  • Ability to fully unplug outside of work hours
  • Opportunity to join a new and growing team with strong visibility
  • Long-term career mobility into other areas of the business

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local individual income tax returns
  • Work with Forms 1040 and supporting documents including W-2s, 1099s, and K-1s
  • Advise clients on tax compliance, filings, planning opportunities, and broader tax strategy
  • Research complex tax questions and help resolve filing issues and discrepancies
  • Partner with financial planning teams to support broader client goals
  • Review work prepared by Client Tax Accountants and provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Train, coach, and mentor team members
  • Maintain organized documentation and clearly communicate tax outcomes to clients

What we’re looking for:

  • 5–7+ years of tax experience within a public accounting firm
  • Experience preparing and reviewing individual tax returns
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA, JD, or EA required
  • Strong client-facing presence with the ability to provide consultation and guidance directly to clients
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment

**This role will be fully onsite for a training period of 3–6 months and then will move to a hybrid schedule, typically 1–2 days remote per week. **Posted salary ranges do not include bonus. Candidates can expect a strong discretionary bonus in addition to base salary.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Active CPA, JD, or EA credential is required.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing complex individual income tax returns and related filings.
  • Strong knowledge of federal income tax rules, multi-jurisdictional filings, and tax compliance requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and provide trusted tax guidance in a detail-oriented setting.
  • Experience reviewing the work of others and supporting team development through training or mentorship.
