Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for our real estate and property business in Mission Viejo, California. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, contributing to monthly reporting, and partnering with internal teams to keep accounting activities on track. The ideal candidate brings strong month-end close expertise, solid general ledger knowledge, and a detail-focused approach to reconciliations and financial analysis.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and record month-end journal entries to ensure timely and accurate financial close activities.
• Assist in producing monthly financial statements, internal reporting packages, and short-term cash flow forecasts.
• Review accounting entries and financial statement classifications to confirm accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances or discrepancies to maintain reliable financial data.
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Partner with teams across the division to address accounting questions, gather supporting information, and align on reporting needs.
• Work closely with shared services partners to coordinate accounting processes and support efficient financial operations.
• Compile and organize schedules, reconciliations, and other supporting materials for division accounting documentation and reporting files.
• Experience in a senior-level accounting role, preferably within real estate, property management, or a related industry.
• Strong working knowledge of month-end close processes, general ledger accounting, and journal entry preparation.
• Proven ability to complete account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
• Familiarity with preparing financial reports and supporting cash flow analysis.
• Solid understanding of financial statement structure and account classification principles.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and shared services groups.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
