Site Reliability Engineer

Description

Robert Half is actively partnering with an Austin-based client to identify a Site Reliability Engineer (contract). In this role, you will support and enhance a large-scale cloud-based SaaS environment. This role focuses on improving platform reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency while leveraging modern cloud-native technologies and automation practices. This role is onsite in Austin, Tx.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructure.
• Manage and optimize Kubernetes-based container platforms and GitOps deployments.
• Deploy application releases and infrastructure updates.
• Develop and improve monitoring, alerting, and automation capabilities.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and operational processes using Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and on-call support rotations.
• Identify reliability risks and implement proactive improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance platform performance, scalability, and availability.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or related roles.
• Strong experience supporting cloud environments (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP experience also valuable).
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools such as Terraform and GitOps technologies.
• Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell or similar languages.
• Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience administering relational databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms.
• Understanding of distributed systems, networking, security best practices, and automated testing.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting enterprise-scale SaaS platforms.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and release automation.
• Experience improving operational maturity through automation and observability.
• Strong focus on reliability, performance optimization, and continuous improvement.
