The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on trial experience, excellent document management skills, and the ability to keep multiple workstreams moving accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee matter intake and file set-up, gather initial case materials, and build clear factual chronologies to support litigation strategy.
- Maintain complete and well-organized case records across electronic and physical files, ensuring pleadings, correspondence, discovery, and internal work product are readily accessible.
- Develop and regularly update key case tools such as timelines, issue matrices, witness trackers, and exhibit inventories.
- Perform factual investigations through public sources, database searches, and records review to help attorneys assemble accurate case information.
- Assist in preparing and refining fact-based sections of litigation documents, including summaries, background materials, and chronologies.
- Coordinate document collection from clients and outside parties, monitor custodians and source data, and support efficient e-discovery workflows.
- Track productions and discovery logs, help organize requests and responses, and ensure materials are processed, indexed, and distributed properly.
- Prepare deposition materials, organize exhibits, manage scheduling and vendor arrangements, and provide on-site or remote support during proceedings.
- Support trial readiness by assembling binders, demonstratives, and trial notebooks, coordinating courtroom logistics and presentation technology, and assisting the team during hearings and trial.
- Help close out matters after trial by organizing transcripts, exhibits, and records, and compiling materials needed for post-trial submissions or appeals.
- At least 5 years of litigation paralegal experience, including substantial hands-on trial support work.
- Proven background supporting commercial litigation and civil litigation matters through all phases of a case.
- Strong working knowledge of New York state and federal court procedures, filing requirements, and litigation practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage discovery materials, document reviews, production tracking, and related case records with precision.
- Experience preparing for depositions and trials, including exhibit management, witness materials, and courtroom coordination.
- Proficiency with e-discovery platforms and litigation support tools used for organizing, reviewing, and tracking case documents.
- Excellent organizational, proofreading, and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
