Senior Software Developer

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to join a contract opportunity with the potential for a permanent hybrid position in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position is ideal for an experienced backend engineer who enjoys solving complex problems in voice and audio-driven systems and can contribute across architecture, development, and production troubleshooting. The role focuses on building reliable Linux-based services, working with VoIP and streaming audio workflows, and using AI-assisted development tools to plan, implement, and validate high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and support backend services that power audio capture and processing capabilities in a Linux environment.
• Investigate VoIP packet flows and call signaling behavior to ensure audio streams are identified, routed, and associated correctly.
• Diagnose audio quality or delivery issues across varied emergency communications configurations and implement durable fixes.
• Translate technical requirements into scalable service designs that address integrations, system security, and long-term maintainability.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to outline features, decompose work into actionable tasks, and strengthen code quality through testing and review.
• Build and refine software components involved in audio streaming, network communication, and service reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to improve backend architecture and support the successful delivery of production-ready solutions.
• Provide technical guidance to other developers and contribute to a thoughtful, growth-oriented engineering culture.
• At least 5 years of backend development experience using languages such as C#, Java, Python, or C++.
• ****Hands-on experience working with VoIP, telephony platforms, or audio streaming systems in a software engineering environment.
• Demonstrated use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Codex, or similar platforms for planning, implementation, and test validation.
• Strong understanding of backend system design, debugging, and performance considerations in production applications.
• Experience developing or supporting Linux-based services.
• Familiarity with audio codecs, including how audio is compressed, segmented, and transmitted over networks.
• Additional experience with Python, C++, or Rust is preferred.
• Front-end exposure with React, TypeScript, or Angular is a plus, along with an interest in mentoring as the team expands.
