We are looking for a Senior Operational Finance Analyst to support business operations through a blend of financial analysis, accounting insight, and project-level partnership in Kansas City, Missouri. This Long-term Contract position will work closely with leadership and project teams to provide clear financial guidance, strengthen reporting, and help drive informed business decisions. The role offers broad exposure across operational finance activities, including project support, audit coordination, month-end processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret financial results and performance trends across business units, regions, and operational groups to deliver actionable insight for leadership.
  • Act as the primary finance partner for project teams by supporting forecasting, budgeting, invoicing, cost tracking, collections, payables, and revenue-related reporting.
  • Review contracts and project financial data to assess revenue recognition treatment, identify financial risk, and evaluate contingencies, warranties, and cost exposure.
  • Work with finance leadership to coordinate planning efforts, support cross-functional initiatives, and align operational priorities with financial objectives.
  • Design and deliver training on financial risk awareness and sound project finance practices for managers and operational stakeholders.
  • Oversee month-end finance activities by completing assigned processes, reconciling data, and preparing accurate reporting for business review.
  • Lead or support internal, client-driven, and annual audit activities by organizing documentation, responding to requests, and ensuring financial records are audit-ready.
  • Contribute to special projects focused on process improvement, innovation, and the adoption of consistent best practices across contract analysis teams.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to less experienced team members while reinforcing quality standards, policy compliance, and required safety practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in operational finance, financial analysis, or project accounting within a construction, engineering, or similarly project-driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, billing, revenue recognition, financial reporting, and month-end close activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to analyze large data sets, track key performance indicators, and prepare meaningful reports.
  • Experience working with accounts receivable, accounts payable, project costing, audit support, and ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Ability to interpret contracts and assess financial implications related to project performance, risk, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven communication and partnership skills with the ability to work effectively with leadership, project managers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience developing training materials, promoting best practices, and providing guidance to entry-level staff members.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
