Senior Accountant

A growing nonprofit organization in White Plains is seeking a Senior Accountant for a contract engagement. This position will support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close activities, financial reporting, grant tracking, and account reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit accounting experience and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger activity
• Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP
• Support grant accounting, restricted funds tracking, and reporting requirements
• Prepare financial statements and management reports
• Assist with audit preparation and supporting schedules
• Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies
• Collaborate with leadership on budget-to-actual reporting
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting regulations and internal controls

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit environment
• Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
• Experience with grant accounting and fund tracking preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
