The ideal candidate has a background in retirement plan recordkeeping and third-party administration (TPA), with hands-on knowledge of 401(k) compliance testing, Form 5500 filings, and Department of Labor reporting requirements. This role is best suited for a detail-oriented, process-driven professional who excels at organizing complex information, managing competing priorities, and maintaining strong client relationships. Advanced Excel skills are essential, and experience with FIS Relius is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate retirement plan activities, ensuring deliverables, deadlines, and client expectations are managed effectively.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing questions, communicating project updates, and coordinating the resolution of retirement plan issues.
  • Coordinate retirement plan compliance activities, including 401(k) nondiscrimination testing, annual Form 5500 filings, and other applicable regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Review retirement plan records, reports, and data to identify discrepancies, maintain accuracy, and ensure required deliverables are completed on time.
  • Partner with third-party vendors, recordkeepers, and internal stakeholders to coordinate plan activities and resolve outstanding items, leveraging external providers for routine processing and administration.
  • Organize and track multiple retirement plan tasks, compliance deadlines, and reporting requirements while maintaining clear documentation and follow-through.
  • Develop, maintain, and manipulate Excel spreadsheets to organize plan information, sort and analyze data, track deliverables, and identify discrepancies.
  • Support future retirement plan recordkeeping platform transition initiatives by helping organize data, coordinate project activities, and maintain continuity of client service.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, strengthen organization, and enhance the accuracy and efficiency of retirement plan operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in third-party administration (TPA), specifically in the retirement space.
  • Working knowledge of 401(k) plans, compliance testing, Form 5500 filings, and applicable Department of Labor reporting requirements.
  • Excellent client communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to explain requirements, provide updates, and coordinate solutions.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including organizing data, sorting and filtering information, maintaining spreadsheets, and performing lookups.
  • Experience with FIS Relius or comparable retirement plan recordkeeping and administration systems is highly desirable.
