Original job description

We are looking for a detail-focused Receiving Administrator to support inventory accuracy and inbound material processing for a wholesale distribution operation in Richburg, South Carolina. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for someone who can balance administrative coordination with hands-on receiving support, while working confidently in a warehouse environment around industrial equipment. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to verify documentation, quantities, and specifications with precision.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate carrier delivery schedules and maintain an accurate log of inbound receiving activity.
  • Review purchase orders, bills of lading, packing lists, invoices, and related documents to confirm shipment details are correct before materials are recorded.
  • Enter received goods, material data, and mill test report information into inventory records with a high level of accuracy.
  • Verify that incoming materials meet order specifications, including any noted property or chemistry requirements, and follow up with suppliers to obtain missing documentation.
  • Prioritize incoming receipts based on operational urgency to help keep warehouse and distribution workflows moving efficiently.
  • Notify quality personnel when received material must be placed into restricted stock and ensure proper documentation is completed.
  • Perform unit and weight conversions, including kilogram-to-pound calculations, when needed for receiving and inventory entry.
  • Process receipts for materials shipped directly to outside processors or warehouse locations while applying the same documentation and verification standards.
  • Maintain organized filing systems, support general administrative tasks, and resolve receiving discrepancies through timely problem-solving and clear communication with internal teams, carriers, and suppliers.
  • Experience in administrative support, receiving coordination, inventory control, or a related operational role.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to compare shipment documents against purchase order requirements accurately.
  • Comfortable using basic math skills for quantity checks, calculations, and weight conversions.
  • Ability to organize paperwork, manage schedules, and handle multiple incoming priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Effective communication skills for working with suppliers, carriers, warehouse staff, and internal departments.
  • Proficiency in data entry and recordkeeping with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Able to work on the warehouse floor in proximity to heavy machinery while following safety expectations.
