Original job description

Robert Half Management Resources is looking for a Procurement Analyst to support one of our clients on an interim basis. This position will oversee technology purchasing activities, budget analysis, and vendor oversight while helping maintain strong financial controls and policy compliance. The role requires someone who can manage cross-functional coordination, monitor procurement records, and provide clear reporting that supports operational and leadership decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate technology purchasing requests from initial intake through procurement processing, legal review, purchase order setup, and payment follow-through while keeping stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Maintain and improve workflows, tracking tools, and official records used for purchasing, contracts, vendors, and related documentation, and guide staff on proper use of these processes.
  • Examine requisitions and procurement support requests for budget alignment, coding accuracy, and required documentation before they move forward, and return incomplete submissions for correction.
  • Work closely with procurement, legal, and internal departments to determine appropriate sourcing approaches, monitor agreement reviews, and help move purchases to completion.
  • Review purchasing activity across the department to confirm adherence to procurement policies, thresholds, and documentation standards, escalating issues and assisting with corrective actions when needed.
  • Support development of annual operating and capital budgets by gathering cost details, organizing budget inputs, and assisting managers with justification materials.
  • Track spending by division, program, and funding source; reconcile actual costs against budget and forecasts; and prepare variance analysis with recommendations for action.
  • Manage contract and vendor records, renewal schedules, invoice reconciliation, software entitlement tracking, and license usage reviews to improve oversight and audit readiness.
  • Produce recurring and on-demand reports, dashboards, and presentation materials related to budgets, renewals, vendor activity, and purchasing performance for leadership review.
  • Background in procurement, contract administration, budget tracking, or financial analysis, preferably in a government or regulated setting.
  • Ability to review transactions, identify exceptions, and support compliance with established policies and documentation requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience preparing reports, dashboards, and variance analyses for management audiences.
  • Proficiency in coordinating across multiple departments, vendors, and stakeholders while managing competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train users and explain process requirements clearly.
